Investing for the future while enjoying now
One of the most important days of my life was when I started my first job out of college.
I was sitting with the Human Resources department filling out all the paperwork and it said check here to contribute to your 401k.
In the US we typically don’t have a pension. Often companies instead fund an investment account for you.
My HR rep informed me the company will provide you 4% of your salary automatically and will match up to 4% more if you put in funds – I don’t recall the exact percentages! I was clearly onboard with getting all the extra money my company would offer. Why not get free money from your company if they are going to match what you put in? I had been living off nothing for the last four years of college anyway.
Little did I know that decision would allow me to build a comfortable cushion to help me start my own company one day.
I selected the funds I wanted to invest in and I watched that money grow over time. I loved the thought of your money making money and that money that your money made…well that money made more money as well. Certainly my account didn’t grow everyday. Some days it went up, some days it went down, but more often than not it went up!
Every time I got a raise I made sure some of that raise went to me having a bit more fun and another portion went into investments. I was hooked.
That is what Kaldi feels like to me. It feels like a way to introduce people into investing with money that you wouldn’t have otherwise had.
It took the offer of free money from my company to start my investor journey. I can shop at Amazon and get Kaldi cashback rather than not getting any cashback at all and I can have that put into an investment that I select, where that money will start to grow.
It seems like a good introduction to investing while not having to adjust your daily life. You work hard, you should enjoy it, but it sure is nice when some of that hard work helps you enjoy the future as well.
